Keep Pushing Forward
"When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it." HENRY FORD
Have you ever flown a kite successfully? I have never been able to just throw my kite up into the wind and get it to fly. For me, I have to start running into the wind (that was not instinct when I was a kid…it never made sense to go against the wind) and get enough resistance for the kite to take flight. Maybe it’s just me, but it never seems to happen on the first try. I usually let go too soon. It took effort. Success usually came a little after the point at which I thought it would or should. I simply had to go a little longer.
Maybe you’re running into the wind right now and you feel like it’s time to let go of the kite because it’s not catching flight. It feels like everything is going against you. Don’t stop. Keep pushing forward. Lean into your Heavenly Father, ask for help and push just a little farther into the wind. He will give flight to whatever it is you are pushing towards or teach you in the resistance. Trust in Him. He wants what’s best for you.
“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you.”
ISAIAH 41:13
Open Doors
“God doesn't require us to succeed, he only requires that you try.” MOTHER TERESA
Is there something you have not started or tried because you are afraid you won’t succeed? Have you been waiting to take the first step? Often, we stop ourselves before we even start because we assume we can’t do all the heavy lifting or even worse that we will fail. The good news is that our God is not one that requires accomplishment, success, or works. He only requires that our heart is all in. All we must do is move in the direction He leads. It’s all about the intention of the heart. He is the one that can and will move mountains.
Leaning into new opportunities or challenges allow us to demonstrate that we trust Him to provide the details, strength, and courage to make it happen. He will open the doors to success, whatever success means in that endeavor.
Maybe, for God, success is not our definition of success. Maybe for Him, He wants you to try and learn from the process and maybe learn from failure. If you believe in who He is, the God of the universe and the God that can move mountains, then what are you waiting for? Take the next step and trust in Him, whatever the outcome. He will be with you the whole way.
“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. "PROVERBS 13:4
Moving Forward
“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.” ROBERT FROST
It is so easy to get caught up on something that didn’t go right or the way we expected. It can be easy to dwell on a past mistake — you re-think it and wonder, what if. Sure, there is value in learning from the past, but there is difference in learning from vs. getting hung up on the past.
Learn from it and move forward. Life goes on. Keep your head up and your eyes on the horizon – what’s next will not wait for you to get ready…it is coming, ready or not. Remember, God is with you through every trial, and He can use the experience to grow you and make you stronger. Lean into Him and He will guide you through it.
“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” HEBREWS 10:36
