There is more than one way to be a hero in our book.
Families Serving Families
Volunteers show up and fill a spot but Family Partners come alongside families to help ease the everyday burdens of childhood cancer, providing them an opportunity to laugh, reconnect and find hope! The role of a Family Partner may look different for everyone. Areas of serving include: being paired directly with a family, setting up different environments in order for families to regain a sense of normalcy and fun, as well as unifying parents together in support.
It takes a team of Family Partners, willing to serve in every role to provide a family a sense of relief and retreat away from the everyday struggles of childhood cancer. Lighthouse Family Retreat will use more than 900 volunteers this retreat season to impact the lives of families living through childhood cancer! They will laugh hard, work hard, and play hard. But at the end of the day, their compassion, heart and service will have provided a family a much-needed opportunity to rest, restore relationships, experience joy and find hope in God.

TIME WELL SPENT
"Family Partner" means single adults and students too! Spending a week together at the beach while working together to create an incredible environment for Retreat Families gives singles the chance to build a community and gain life-long relationships.
INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION
Family Partners come in all forms and ages. The wisdom and joy brought by Family Partners who have adult children is invaluable. Empty Nesters lead by example and bring years of parenting experience to everyone on a retreat. We cherish their time and support!
Students, Especially Students
COLLEGE STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Each summer, we hire college student interns from all over the country who have a passion for service, families, and excellence. They live at the beach, serve every week of June and July, help offer consistency from week to week, and support Family Partners.
College Student Work Crew
The college work crew program consists of students who serve every week of June and July behind the scenes to prepare all retreat environments. These students, alongside a Work Crew Intern, work hard to ensure that the families experience a restful week full of fun environments!
