About the Event

Childhood cancer hits families hard. Would your family help change this for one day? We’re inviting volunteer families from the Dallas area to join Lighthouse Family Retreat and Compass Church as we host a free one-day retreat for families living through childhood cancer on November 16th. Life with childhood cancer isn't easy. Lighthouse Family Retreat has been strengthening families living through this difficult journey for over 20 years. We know how important it is for families to take a break from the crazy and carve out some time to connect. That's what the Lighthouse One-Day Retreat is all about. But we can’t do it without you.

The event is a compressed version of a week on retreat with Lighthouse, and allows families unable to travel to our week long seaside retreats to experience a day full of our four truths: rest, restoration, joy, and hope! During this one-day event, families living through childhood cancer are served by volunteers, like you, who are dedicated to providing a break from the chaos that comes with childhood cancer. This day allows these families to focus on having fun, relaxing, reconnecting as a couple, and just spending time together.

Our program offers fun, family-centered activities to help families living through childhood cancer "feel like a family" again. The day will begin with time spent all together in a large group environment. For children, the afternoon with consist of time spent playing in a caring environment supervised by volunteers. For parents of children living through childhood cancer, the afternoon will be a small group environment, that we call Common Ground, that provides a safe place to share and connect with others living through similar life challenges.
