The Cheat Family

“We attended Retreat 3 2019. I am a single mom to Angel age 15. She was diagnosed with BCell ALL 4/20/2017. She went in remission May 30, 2017. Recently 8/14/2019 we took the last treatement medicine and her port was removed 8/21/2019. We get to ring the bell 9/4/2019. Angel is a typical teen that loves spending time with friends, watching Greys Anatomy and country music. My favorite memory from Retreat was all of it. From the minute I spoke with Buck and Eleanor to arriving, there was a bond with everyone. There were no strangers among any of us and we all became friends with other families and all the volunteer families. I really enjoyed spending time with other parents and learning how other families are feeling and dealing with the same worries, scares, and the small joys we never take for granted.  Angel loved spending time with other teens even the teens that were volunteers. They listened and allowed her to express herself without judgement. Lighthouse has left memories that we will carry for the rest of our lives.

“We were treated to a week I could never afford and pampered with wonderful food great entertainment and laughter we both needed. If I could say anything to a family thinking of going it would be don’t think twice. As a cancer family to have a week of not worrying about anything being pampered by the volunteer families and total strangers and making memories as a family and with other families I would love to go again.  Lighthouse is wonderful and brought my family new friends and memories that we could never make on our own.” - The Cheat Family

Judy & Angle have decided to Go Gold with Lighthouse during the month of September and is fundraising to send more families on retreat. Consider donating below!
