Retreat 1, April 2 - 5, 2006

We launched our 7th season April 2-5 in the community of Gulf Trace located on the Florida Panhandle.  Ten children with cancer and their families along with our retreat volunteers and staff laughed, played in the sand and a few were even brave enough to get into the chilly gulf water.  Eight of our retreat families were from Georgia, one from Tennessee and one family came all the way from Indiana!  It always amazes me how we show up strangers and go home one big family!  We were excited to have Todd Peterson of the Atlanta Falcons and Grant Williams of the St. Louis Rams along with their families join our Luau and offer encouragement to the kids.  They brightened up the night and helped make it a great evening of fun. We always wrap up our retreats with a talent show.  A highlight of the week was watching a precious young girl, who is recovering from a brain tumor, bring a smile to everyone’s face with her rendition of “You are my sunshine”.  Way to go Kylie!!!! It was a wonderful way to kick off our season.
